James started dancing at the age of 16: At Cirencester College he achieved high results in A Level and BTEC Dance, as well as training at CCDA. He was awarded a full scholarship (DADA) award to train at Stella Mann College, studying Dance. After graduating he worked professionally abroad until he realised his calling for teaching dance. Whilst completing his studies for a top-up degree he gained valuable work experience in teaching dance; James then completed a PGCE in Secondary Dance Education at Brighton University, graduating with his Master’s Credits, as an outstanding teacher. James is currently Head of Performing Arts Faculty at Elstree University Technology College, where he oversees the teaching of Dance, Drama, Music, PE and Musical Theatre. He also is one of the leaders in the school for Teacher Training and is currently completing Senior Leadership training. Additionally, James has been a moderator and examiner for GCSE Dance and BTEC Dance. James is also a qualified ID Contemporary Dance teacher. Whilst James’ focus is on teaching, he still performs. He has worked with Scatter Dance Company at The Place (LSCD) and is part of Alpha Dance Company ran by Kevin Jewell.
