Tap Dance

Tap Dance

In the early 20th century in America, this was a street dance but with noise from using the body as a percussive instrument. By true improvisation, this expressing of rhythms developed with use of metal taps on shoes and intricate footwork. Today, we mainly see this in musical theatre and from stars such as the Australian dancer (or hoofer as tappers are called), Adam Garcia, and companies such as Tap Dogs. A great discipline to learn & fun to perform. A great fun skill for musical theatre performers, and those with a strong musicality.

Examinations from age 5 to senior professional advanced two can be achieved, providing a sound technique and giving UCAS points from grade 6 onwards.
